JHB Photographers in PTA
Evidence of the merge...
What a fantastic evening we had with all the Johannesburg photographers finally deciding to venture past the “Boerewors gordyn”! And now all us Pretorians will feel much more included in this gang of Gauteng photographers.
It was a social event like non other then the social master Peter Morey can organise! With the help of Peter Hassall of course - note the double S and double L ;-) Crackling fires next to the pool created the perfect atmosphere and it was more then tempting to through some wors on the coals and mingle with some familiar, and some not so familiar faces.
People travelled far and wide to attend this historical event! Having Koos van der Lende as a guest speaker for the evening it was expected to have such a huge attendance. Little people are aware of the everyday challenges and struggles that Koos go through to create masterpieces reflecting nothing but magnificence! Without Photoshop.... And yes, he still shoot on film. What an honour it was to see some of his images, but more then that, to hear the stories behind the images which we can never truly appreciate.
Koos, you are one of a kind! With great respect and fear for our Saviour, your obedience is an example to us all and it reflects through each of your images. You are the Landscape Legend!
Getting a glimpse of a day in the life of Peter Morey was extremely funny yet very insightful. Man, if only we could all do business like you there would be no struggling artists around. Being the official photographer of Madiba and his family is a feat few people can accomplish. Awesome work!
Now you should all now what the Shukuma dolly can do! I’m sure you couldn’t miss the bright orange timelapse rig in the corner of the garden but if you did, not to worry. While you were all having a braai, the Shukuma dolly was in motion keeping a close eye on your activities. The camera was programmed to take a series of about 600 photos during the 3 hour period resulting in a 24sec video clip.
Here is the outcome of what we were up to and the proof that the JHB Photographers have now happily merged with the PTA Photographers. Let the community grow!
