SCYO Dolly going to Germany

The recently launched SCYO dolly is making its way to Germany! Being able to build up your dolly as you go along immediately grabbed attention in Europe when we introduced it to Gunther Wegner from LRTimelapse and Matthias Uhlig from Kids of All Ages. They just put together a gear review video!!

This versatile and robust dolly is the first of it's kind in the sense that you can Create Your Own Dolly allowing you to build up your dolly to your personal needs and preference. The SCYO Dolly design was based on the popularity of the Shukuma DOLLY with a few important differences to make this motorised timelapse dolly even more COMPACT, VERSATILE & MOBILE! Therefore the name is fitting as Shukuma Create Your Own.

Because you can add on accessories at any time you wish, you can start out with the basics and kit it out as much as you want, when you want! Having the option to swap or remove certain items makes it ideal for people who already have a controller or would like to choose their own track length etc. You are also able to swap between DC and stepper motors (for example; if you already have an eMotimo). There are a variety of accessories such as legs, extension kits and even limit switches. For a detailed description and specs of the SCYO Dolly be sure to check out the product page.

Back to the review ;-)
When Gunther (LRTimelapse) first got his hands on the SCYO Dolly he thought it important to show it to Matthias (Kids of All Ages) who is a retailer of a variety of timelapse and other photographic related equipment in Germany. They both have some fine first impressions! Mathias noted that, unlike the rail for the Dynamic Perception stage Zero dolly, this track is freely available all over Europe. Gunther mentioned that it's very sturdy and being able to join the rails so smoothly is a great feature of the SCYO Dolly.

Some other features they pointed out was that the dolly is well-made, doesn't have any play and is a good quality, worthy product. To summarise the SCYO Dolly it is important to note that you can choose shorter track lengths which can be joined together smoothly. This makes for really comfortable travelling! Being able to swap out motors and/or controllers makes this an incredibly versatile dolly. You have the option to shoot flat on the ground or make use of the legs which is available as an accessory. This will allow to protect your slider when shooting outdoors and not to damage or scratch the edges. You can also get a "vertical leg connector" in order to shoot vertical moves. And yes, the SCYO Dolly is made in South Africa.

The inserted video clip was shot in May 2013 and features the Shukuma DOLLY (this was long before the launch of the SCYO Dolly and since then we have done a set-up of over 15m for a commercial shoot). When it's a sunny day in Cape Town, on a Saturday, you can be sure to have lots of action on the beach. Don't forget that the famous South Eastern winds was born in Cape Town - often at great speeds…. PLEASE EXCUSE THE BAD SOUND ON THE INSERTED CLIP :-|

The SCYO Dolly will now be exported to Germany and will be available directly from Kids of All Ages as well as from TimeLapse SA.

In the meantime we have been working on yet another exciting add-on accessory for the SCYO. This newly developed parallax system will give you 2-axis moves on one motor! The SCYO parallax will be available shortly as an add-on with your SCYO Dolly.

Have a look at the Product Gallery for more images of the SCYO Dolly.

Special thanks to Gunther & Matthias for taking the time to review the brand new SCYO Dolly!
Be sure to spread the word and tell your friends about this awesome new dolly which will soon be available in Europe!!
